2013 August

On August 12, 2013 I met with Loraine, Travis and their children, Nate, Kale and Hudson, at South Glenmore Park for a few photos.  It has been a wonderful experience for me to be part of their lives, watching and photographing the kids and family  grow.  I love that I have become a small part of their family and have been afforded the opportunity to participate in the documenting their lives.

For the past month, I have been submitting photos to the National Geographic under their program called “Your Shot”.  Each applicant is limited in submitting 15 photos per week.  Submissions come in from all over the world.  At last count, there were over 33 million photos submitted.

Much like Facebook, you can “like” and “comment” on photos submitted by others.  There are a few opportunities for what the National Geographic calls “publications.”  These acknowledgements include “Daily Dozen” and “Editor’s Awards”.

This past week, I was thrilled to have 2 of my photos “published in the Daily Dozen.”  The first was one of the Daily Dozen July 16.  The second photo was “published in the Daily Dozen July 19.”  What an honour to have photos associated with such a prestigious organization as the National Geographic.
