Alexandra

Mike and Ashley welcomed me into their home and introduced me to their 4 week old new baby girl Alexandra.  What an adorable family.  The love that these new parents exuded not only for their beautiful little girl but also for their 2 fur kids, Georgie and Coby was thick in the air.  My hope was simply to capture that immense devotion.  This is their slideshow.

Joey

I have to confess that photographing pets – animals is my all-time favourite photo shoot. As a result my Pet Collection is extremely affordable.

I was invited to go for a walk with Ed and his beloved 13 year old Greyhound, Joey. It was a glorious morning. The sun had just risen, dousing the fields and trees of Fish Creek Park in a fantastic golden light. Even though Joey had already been out earlier, he was more than willing to head out with me for a few photos. The included photo is a collage of some of the photos taken that morning.

Loraine and Family

Loraine and Travis have been so gracious in allowing me to document their lives with their children. It started 5 years ago when the twins, Nate and Kale where first born. A couple of years later Hudson joined the family. In late September we met in one of our favourite locations, Confederation Park. It has been so wonderful to watch this young family grow together. Loraine and Travis are the ultimate parents, raising the most outstanding children. Thanks for letting me be part of your lives.

Jordie and the Girls

I love to photograph animals both wild and domestic. On Aug 10, I had the great fortune to meet Kelsey and Marina at a ranch just west of Elbow Valley where Jordie is boarded. Lucky Jordie, a handsome thoroughbred, posed with his two beautiful guardians at various locations around the ranch. This is their slideshow.

Max

LoweBowes Photography was started 7 years ago when friends and family encouraged me to take their family and pet photos. I have to admit that taking pet photos is my absolute favourite collection to shoot. This is why I charge a minimal amount for the collection. At the end of June, I met a friend at her home to take photos of her newest fur kid, Max. Even though the shoot was to focus on Max, whom was adopted through AARC (Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society), I could not resist snapping a few images of Katie, his feline sister.

We took Max out for a walk in an off-leash where he performed marvellously. He really enjoyed his role as the canine model. We then went back to the house where I was able to capture a few shots of Max and Katie, comfortable in their home environment. Here is their video.

Greyt Rescue Groups

Greyhounds are a big part of my life. I adopted my first Greyhound, Typewriter, 12 years ago. Sadly he developed Cancer and left us for the Rainbow Bridge 5 years ago now. We missed having a dog in our lives and thought we would try fostering a Greyhound for one of the organizations in Calgary. We are happy to say, “We Failed Fostering” and adopted our foster, Berniece.  Niecey is so much a part of our lives.  I adore her.

I often volunteer to take photos or set up a mini studio at Fund Raising events to raise money for these fabulous organizations that dedicate their time to finding Forever Homes for the retired Greyhound. On June 14 I set up my studio during the Northern Sky Greyhound Rescue Association 1st Annual Fiesta here in Calgary. The video is a compilation of photos from the event.

New Life

I apologize for the lateness in my last post.  The last post was rather depressing as it seemed that spring was never going to arrive.  Well, it has arrived and greeted us with the most wonderful breath of new life.  Not only have the birds returned but the flowers and blooms have flourished.  I know that I have been tardy with the updates for the photo of the week but I certainly have not been lax in my duty to bring along my camera every day that I am out.

To make up for the slide of my updates, I have created a video of some of the photos of New Life, both animal and plant.

Is Spring Ever Going To Arrive

It has been very discouraging of late. I needed something to brighten my day so I have been going through my photos and came upon this one of Alex, taken a couple of years ago. We were in his Mom and Dad’s kitchen taking family photos. I had some artificial flowers and gave one to Alex asking him if the flower smelled good. I added a little flare to the image and call it “Magical Flower.” Hopefully by posting this image, it will spill a little magical dust and Spring will come, QUICKLY.

Pretty in Pink

The first day of spring is in one day.  I was looking through some of my flower photos and came across this one.  The image was captured on Isabella Island in the Galapagos.  I thought you might enjoy the image that gives us a taste of spring after our brutish winter.

Misty Sunset

We travelled to Huatulco Mexico on vacation in late November 2013.  There is a nearby bay called La Bocana where the river empties into the ocean.  Birds of all kinds congregate at this location.  One evening we decided to watch the sunset on the beach.  The view was amazing.  A mist developed over the water as the sun began to set.  The scene was breathtaking.
